Decolonize YQR: Indigenous Humour with Ryan Moccasin & Daniel Knight
Indigenous Humour: A Pathway to Healing
Reconciliation Regina and the Regina Public Library are partnering to present Decolonize YQR, a speaker workshop series that takes participants on a self-reflective journey exploring the history and effects of colonization. Together, we will explore ways to decolonize our hearts, minds, and community.
On February 13th at 7 pm, Ryan Moccasin – author, satirist, comedian, and founder of The Feather News, a satirical news site – and Daniel Knight – actor, musician, comedian, and correspondent for The Feather News – will share their work and discuss how humour is integral to Indigenous culture.
This program will be offered remotely via Zoom, at no cost to participants. Join us on Zoom here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88114994934

This Saskatchewan-born comedian, producer, and author is a true entertainment dynamo. He’s the mastermind behind The Feather News, a satirical news site that’s made its mark on APTN InFocus, CTV, and CBC. With support from the Saskatchewan Arts Board, PAVED Arts, Indigenous Screen Office, Bell Fund, and Creative Saskatchewan, his impressive work continues to flourish. His talents have earned him accolades, including winning the web series pitch competition at the ImagiNATIVE/APTN festival, and his streaming series is now available on APTN Lumi.
As an author, he’s penned the gripping sci-fi novel “Suicide Empire,” which has been featured on CBC Radio, APTN, and Eagle Feather News. He’s also an accomplished screenwriter, having written a heartwarming Christmas screenplay for the esteemed Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre Company.
But his uproarious wit is perhaps most apparent in his stand-up comedy career, where he’s performed at iconic venues like Yuk Yuk’s and opened for the legendary Howie Miller. Fans can listen to his comedy album on Just For Laughs: Originals, which was released on May 22nd, 2023. Catch him live in action at Saskatoon and beyond – you won’t be disappointed!
